“On Monday 25th May 2024 whilst walking around Hollingworth Lake on– a local beauty spot and a lake to walk around – Emily and her twin brother – Sam – went on a different path to their parents to go nearer to a stream that feeds the Lake.
Sam slipped on the mud and hit his head on a pipe that fed the stream; this resulted in him falling into the stream.
Emily’s brother’s feet couldn’t reach the bottom of the stream so she had to hold on to him whilst shouting for help and calling for her mum and partner who arrived soon afterwards. She did not have the strength to pull her brother out due to his size and the stream’s current. They soon arrived to pull him out to safety.
Emily started has a Beaver Scout and is always involved in every week’s activities. She has got her Chief Scout Bronze and Silver Awards and has been a sixer and seconder whilst in Cubs. She’s really enthusiastic every week and with other activities her group take part in. You can guarantee she will be there.
Emily is a delightful child who always has a smile, she is always willing to help others both within and outside scouting
Without Emily’s quick thinking and cool head, her brother would have been swept into the lake”
Well done Emily!
